Before I started drawing and designing Snowy and Snuffles, I wanted to do some research on wombats. I hadn’t really ever seen a wombat in person before as I would only ever see them asleep  and rolled up into furry balls in burrows at the zoo. I was very lucky to be invited by Roz and Kevin at Cedar Creek Wombat Rescue  to come draw and play with all their very lively and playful wombats. My whole perspective of the lazy wombat was shattered! They have so much energy and are so affectionate and friendly. Cedar Creek Wombat Rescue and Wildlife Refuge is dedicated to rescuing not just orphaned joey wombats but also sub-adults and adults that are in need of medical care whether it be from accident, injury or mange. Roz and Kevin also care for many other native animals and I had the pleasure of getting a personal tour around the centre with their rescued magpie Maggie (who was very chatty!). You can check out all their amazing work here:
